Peter Tiefenbach enjoys a multifaceted career as a performer, composer and broadcaster. He and Mary Lou Fallis first performed together in 1997. Highlights of their collaboration include succesful Toronto runs of her shows Primadonna and and Primadonna Does Shakespeare (2002). A familiar presence on CBC Radio, Mr. Tiefenbach is the former host of the Radio Two programmes The Arts Tonight and Highlights of his 2003-04 season included: orchestrating and conducting a concert for CBC Radio and TV, of music by Noel Coward and Ivor Novello with the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, baritone Russell Braun and soprano Donna Brown; and making his acting debut as "Gerhard Krachmann" in the new play Simpl at Toronto's Tarragon Theatre and at the National Arts Centre. In 2005 he gave a recital in Calgary with soprano Valdine Anderson and mezzosoprano Kimberley Barber (broadcast by CBC), and served as music director for Calgary Opera's production of Kurt Weill's Seven Deadly Sins. In March, he performed with Miss Fallis and Kiosque for CBC Radio's OnStage. He and Miss Fallis toured through Iceland in 2005 as well. Last summer he made a return visits to the Indian River Festival (PEI) and the Niagara International Chamber Music Festival, and his Festival Vancouver debut in a reprise of last season's Coward-Novello programme. Among his recent commissions are works for violinist Mark Fewer and pianist Jean Marchand, the Elora Festival Singers, trumpeter Stuart Laughton, and the Toronto Children's Chorus. Current projects include a new composition for the Saskatoon Children's Chorus (to be premiered in July at the World Children's Choir Festival in Hong Kong) as well as a new work for the Canadian Brass. Recent recordings include Jean Stilwell's Kabarett (CBC Records 2003 and Les Chemins de l'amour (CBC Records 2000), Isabel Bayrakdarian's Azulão (CBC Records 2003), and Stuart Laughton's Remembrance (Marquis Classics 2003).
