What exactly is iSCORE?

iSCORE is a web-based practice and communication tool. It is designed to help motivate students to take responsibility for their practising and overall music learning and music creation. iSCORE makes it easier for students to set goals, create new work, edit and share their work and respond to feedback from teachers, peers and parents. It also makes it easier for teachers to communicate with their students and help their students become independent learners. It includes a text annotation tool and links to recording and notation software.

Will iSCORE add practice time?

iSCORE changes the way students use their practice time. iSCORE has features that help students organize their practice tasks. These features make music practice more effective and efficient.

What about screen-time concerns?

iSCORE capitalizes on the keen interest many students have in digital technologies by integrating these technologies into music practice and thereby making practice more enjoyable for students. The iSCORE tool is a positive, screen-based experience, requiring active and creative engagement on the part of the student. iSCORE is used to support and enhance – not replace – instrumental learning and the relationship between teacher and student.

Is there a User Guide for iSCORE?

What about privacy on the Internet?

iSCORE is not part of the worldwide web. It is stored on a private server. Individual portfolios cannot be found through search engines (such as a Google search). All accounts are password-protected. To use iSCORE, you must first apply and, once approved, agree to the Terms and Conditions of Use. Please click HERE to start this process.

How do I sign up?

  1. Click here to register for a teacher account.
  2. You will receive a confirmation email and an invitation to register your students. Please be patient, as this is a manual process that may take up to 48 hours.

How do I sign up my students?

Once you receive your invitation to register your students, you will be asked to submit their names and email addresses. This information is used to create a private and secure account for each student and will not be shared. Each student account can only be accessed by that student.

What exactly is iSCORE?

iSCORE is a set of free, online tools that can help make your practising more enjoyable and more effective. With iSCORE, you can make audio recordings and upload video recordings of your own performances, save them, share them with other students and your teacher, and see feedback written on top of your video recordings. You can also use iSCORE for composing and improvising and saving all your favourite music.

Will iSCORE add practice time?

No.

How do I sign up?

Ask your teacher to register on the RCM home page. Once this registration process is complete, you will receive an email linking you to your account.
